Offering aid in disaster situations has always been a core part of SERVOME’s mission. Faced with new challenges, a new approach has been developed since 2014. Currently we seek to empower local churches to play a greater role in their communities when disaster strikes.
Thus the unit IMSE, an acronym for its Spanish name translated as “churches mobilizing in emergency situations” was formed. In the event of a disaster (fire, storms, floods, disease, etc.), interventions are carried out by the IMSE team together with active involvement of local churches, in coordination with municipal or state entities such as the National Emergency Board. As a result, not only is an immediate material need being provided, but also the message of hope from God for families to come to know the gospel and the church.
